THE PROJECT: Sustainable Private Residence - Seattle
OUR MISSION: To create a sustainable campus on a wooded site near Seattle that included an equestrian arena, stables, a farm managers residence, and a main residence.
THE PLAN: Seattle is a pretty forward thinking city in terms of sustainable design and this client wanted to go all out. We think the graphics give a pretty good idea of the resulting design. It was a great site, and to maintain its integrity the house was carefully positioned. It incorporated a green roof. It also had a high-tech skylight down the center of the main residence that monitored the amount of sunlight and automatically closed when too much heat was entering the residence.
